Hull Cleaning in Kamsar Port
Hull cleaning in Kamsar Port is a straightforward service when the scope is clear. Owners should know what level of cleaning they are buying, how the result will be measured and what documents they will receive. This page sets out the options we offer, from a quick spot clean to a full hull cleaning, and how each is reported.
Step One: Fouling Assessment
Before we quote, we want to know how fouled the hull is. We use a short CCTV inspection or the ship's own photographs to rate fouling as light slime, soft growth such as weed, or hard calcareous growth. Each level calls for a different tool, time and cost. The assessment also shows whether coating damage is present, as damaged areas need careful handling.
Cleaning Scope Options
- Spot cleaning: selected areas such as the rudder, sea chests, draft marks or the area needed for a survey.
- Partial cleaning: flat bottom, bow and stern, or the waterline area, where fouling is heaviest.
- Full hull cleaning: the whole underwater hull, with propeller cleaning included or as an extra.
- Niche area cleaning: sea chests, gratings, thruster tunnels and bilge keels.
Where the Work Is Done
Most hull cleaning in Kamsar is carried out at the anchorage area while the ship waits for a berth. Cleaning at anchor avoids interference with loading, and the ship is stationary, which makes diving safer and more effective. Alongside cleaning can be arranged where the terminal agrees. In both cases, we coordinate through the ship's agent.
What You Receive
After cleaning, you receive a report with the date, the area cleaned, the tool used and the condition before and after. Photographs and video show each hull zone. If the work was needed for class, the surveyor can review the same evidence. This provides a transparent record, which also helps compare performance between ships and ports.
Quality Control
The supervisor follows the work by video and checks each strip for missed patches. At the end, a different Diver or the supervisor performs a final inspection with the camera. Any patch that does not meet the agreed standard is cleaned again before the team leaves the ship. This simple second check is the main reason our reports can be trusted.
Scope and Price
Cleaning price depends on ship size, fouling level, scope and location. We provide a fixed price per scope option, with clear rates for extra work if the actual fouling is worse than the assessment.

What a Good Cleaning Report Contains
A cleaning report should show the date and location, the ship's draft, the area cleaned, the method, the fouling level before and after and photographs of each zone. It should also list any damage seen and recommendations. A report that only says 'hull cleaned' is of little value. We include enough detail that the owner, the charterer or a port inspector can see exactly what was done and what condition the hull was left in.
Access to Difficult Areas
Some areas are harder to clean: the waterline band, the area around the sea chests, bilge keel edges, thruster openings and the stern frame. We list these areas in the scope, so that the owner knows whether they will be cleaned. Where the ship is alongside, the berth side may not be reachable, and this is stated in the report. Clear scope definitions prevent disagreements, and give the owner a fair picture of what has been cleaned and what remains.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q1. What levels of fouling are recognised?
Commonly slime, soft growth (weed, algae) and hard calcareous growth (barnacles, tube worms), each needing a different method.
Q2. How is cleaning quality verified?
By CCTV inspection after cleaning and a final check by the supervisor, with photographs in the report.
Q3. How long does spot cleaning take?
A spot clean for survey needs, such as a rudder or draft marks, usually takes 2 to 4 hours.
Q4. Is propeller cleaning included in hull cleaning?
It can be included or priced separately. Propellers often need polishing as well as cleaning.
Q5. Can hull cleaning be done during loading?
Sometimes, if the terminal agrees and the dive is planned around loading. Anchorage cleaning is simpler.
